Easy Knitted Bottle Cover + Bonus Gift Bag

Size: Fits most bottles
Materials: 75yards heavy worsted yarn
20 yds contrasting color
Ribbon
Gauge: 4 sts and 5.5 rows = 1"
Keyplate 3.5 or appropriate tension

1. With waste yarn, open cast on 39 needles.*  Row counter at zeros. Hang hem or weights.
2. Using keyplate 3, knit to row counter 55.
3.Next row: transfer eyery other stitch over on top of next stitch.  Leave empty needles in working position.
4. Knit to row counter 67.
5. Cut main color yarn leaving tail for sewing.
6. With contrasting color, knit 5 rows.
7. Repeast step 3.
8. Knit to row counter 78. Bind off stitches. Remove weights.

 

Sew back seam. With tail yarn and needle, thread through beginning stitches on waste yarn. Remove waste yarn.  Gather stitches together tightly. Knot yarn. Fold top edge of contrasting color in half and stitch to inside.
Thread ribbon through eyelet holes.  Insert bottle and gather closed at ribbon.
Bonus: To make a gift bag: Knit as above, knitting to row counter 40, work eyelet row, knit to row counter 52, change to contrasting color, knit 5 rows, repeat step 3, knit to row counter 62. Finish as above.
