Size: 7 X 9 inches
Gauge: 4 sts = 1” Keyplate 4, Bulky: Tension 9.
Materials: Worsted Weight wool Yarn:100yds main color and 100 yds novelty yarn. (optional)
Knit using both strands together.

With waste yarn, open cast on 33 sts. Knit a few rows then change to main yarn and novelty yarn together. Knit 15 rows.
Dec. 1 st at each end, knit 2 rows.
Repeat step 2, 5 times more.
Dec. 1 st at each end, knit row.
Repeat step 4 until 1 st remains. Cut yarn leaving tail for sewing. Pull loop through.
With wrong side facing, hang first 16 sts below waste yarn. With main yarn, knit 2 rows.
Repeat step2, 4 times, then step 4, 2 times.
Bind off last 4 sts.
Repeat steps 6 through 8 for remaining 16 sts on waste yarn.
Repeat steps 1 through 9 for other side of purse.
Make 3 st I-cord 60" long. (I-cord directions can be found on our strawberry hat pattern).

Finishing: Sew the sides of the purse together with tail yarns starting at the bottom and ending where the heart begins to form the top. Weave in ends.
Felting:
Place purse in lingerie bag or pillowcase and secure shut. (This protects your machine).
Set washer to low and hot wash. Add a drop of dishwashing liquid.
Add bag and wash for 1 cycle. Before water drains, check bag. Reset washer if necessary and keep checking purse until felted sufficiently. Set washer to drain and spin.
Purse may be misshapen. Stretch and pull wool until desired shape. Air dry.
Secure the ends of the I-cord together by wrapping only the novelty yarn around about 2" from ends. (See picture).
Hot Glue or sew the I-cord to the sides of the purse. The I-cord shown was not felted but you could.
